Dear Kaplan Career Academy Families,
I am writing to share some bittersweet news regarding my journey with Kaplan Career Academy, as well as an exciting new chapter for our school community.
Effective July 1, 2026, I will be stepping into a new role as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for our school district. While I am incredibly excited to serve our students and teachers on a broader scale, leaving my day-to-day role as your Principal is deeply emotional.
Since 2016, it has been the absolute privilege of my professional life to lead this wonderful program. Together, we have watched Kaplan grow, double its enrollment, and truly become the premier special education program in our region. I am immensely proud of the resilience, hard work, and triumphs of our K-12 students, and I am profoundly grateful for the trust, partnership, and support you have extended to me over the last decade.
As I transition to the district office, I do so with absolute confidence in the future of Kaplan Career Academy. Our school is being left in incredibly capable, passionate, and dedicated hands:
Ms. Jonelle Ballard will be stepping in as your new Principal. She was the Assistant Principal at Kaplan previously. Many of you may know her. She brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to our students' success, and I know she will lead Kaplan into its next great chapter with vision and heart.
Ms. Jennifer Miller will continue her outstanding work as our Assistant Principal. Her steady leadership, deep familiarity with our families, and unwavering dedication to our therapeutic and academic mission will ensure stability and continuity.
Though my office may be moving, my commitment to the Kaplan community remains unchanged. In my new district role, I will continue to work hard every day to ensure our school has the innovative curriculum, resources, and instructional support it needs to help your children achieve lifelong success.
