Academic Programs
Students who are on the autism spectrum are provided a comprehensive academic program. The curriculum is comprehensive and tailored to the individual needs of students as reflected in their IEPs. Students are prepared to meet the rigors of curriculum leading to either the Regents Diploma or the Local Diploma. The IEP Diploma is also an option for students.
The academic curriculum at REACH promotes application of learned knowledge and skills. For example, students apply knowledge and skills learned in science and math to an organic garden located on campus.
Students enrolled in REACH tend to have social skill challenges and social skills objectives that are part of their IEPs. To address these needs there is a large emphasis at REACH on developing functional acceptable social skills that are generalized to various settings. Social skills that will facilitate living and employment in the community are emphasized in all aspects of REACH.
