The Marching Cobras at Pace University

The Greenburgh North Castle UFSD marching band, “The Marching Cobras”, comprised of students from Kenneth Clark Academy and Greenburgh Academy has had an extremely busy and productive fall. “The Marching Cobras” directed by Terrell Stowers and assisted by Kevin Young, Assistant Director, along with trainers Felicia Ortiz and Sheldon Gomes, features almost 50 students. There are four performance groups that are part of “The Marching Cobras”: percussion, flags, dancers and step dancers. They train five to six days a week at KCA, two to three hours per day.
The highlights of the fall season include but not limited to participating in several local parades, performing at halftime at The University of New York at Albany’s homecoming football game and touring the campus, providing musical entertainment for the student association celebration at The University of New York at New Paltz, performing at step competitions and being selected as the Pep Band by Pace University’s football team and basketball team. The fall season was topped off by “The Marching Cobras” headlining the national step dance competition in Harlem.
Not only have the students involved in “The Marching Cobras” obtained a high level of musical and performing skills, they have developed a variety of attributes that will serve them well as they transition to adulthood; these attributes include: self-discipline, perseverance, confidence, dedication, loyalty, patience and the ability to work as a productive, caring team.
“The Marching Cobras” are clearly one of the District’s signature programs. Please enjoy the pictures of “The Marching Cobras” taken at several recent events. “The Marching Cobras” are in need of upgraded instruments and support for transportation to events throughout the Northeast.
